The intervention group (AMOS clinic participants) included 113 participants and the control (usual care in the Diabetes Centre) included 111 participants. Baseline BMI (body mass index) was 39.5m2 (intervention) vs 41m2 (control). The BMI went down 2.6m2 and 4.1m2 in the intervention group versus 0.6m2 and 0.5m2 in the control at 12 and 24 months (-3.5m2 difference at 24 months). Baseline weight (measure by kilogram) was 116.7 (intervention) vs 113.4kg (control). The weight went down 7.2kg and 11.0kg in the intervention group versus 1.8kg and 1.7kg in the control at 12 and 24 months (-9.2kg difference at 24-months). Baseline HbA1c (measure of diabetes control) was 8.4% vs 8.2%. The HbA1c went down 0.53% and 0.84% in the intervention group versus 0.29% and 0.25% in the control at 12 and 24 months (-0.59% difference at 24-months).

Person living with type 2 diabetes and with a BMI equal to or greater than 30
Person already in the care of the Diabetes Centre, Tasmanian Health Service (North West)
Able to provide informed consent
Not pregnant or breastfeeding
Person living with type 2 diabetes and with a BMI less than 30
Person living with type 1 diabetes
Person living with diabetes and aged 75 years of age or greater or less than 18 years of age
Any pregnant or breastfeeding person with diabetes
Any person with a cognitive impairment, an intellectual disability or uncontrolled psychotic illness
