简要总结
Spinal cord injury (SCI) can cause temporary or permanent changes in the spinal cord’s normal sensory-motor or autonomic functions. These changes may adversely affect an individual’s functional status and quality of life. Globally, around 2,50,000 – 5,00,000 individual suffer from spinal cord injury (SCI).
Trunk stability is the third most important goal in rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury. Sitting is one of the most fundamental activities of daily living for persons with SCI and this ability determines their level of independence for many activities of daily living.
This research is about the effectiveness of multi – directional reach training for unsupported sitting balance in individuals with spinal cord injury. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of multi- directional reach training for unsupported sitting balance in spinal cord injury patients.
Patients will be selected on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. They will be divided into 2 groups with the help of randomization software. One group will receive Multi – Directional Reach Training for 30 minutes, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The other group which is the conventional group will receive conventional therapy only.
The outcome measurements will be done by FIST – SCI for specific functional task in sitting and Pro-kin Techno Body Sitting Balance (Star Test) for sitting balance. The changes in the pre and post outcome measure will help us to find out how much Multi – Directional Reach Training is effective in improving the sitting balance and specific functional task in sitting in individuals with spinal cord injury.
