Inclusion Criteria

Major visceral surgery must have been performed on the patient during the hospital stay concerned.
This includes:
o Esophagectomy
o gastrectomy
o Pancreatic resection
o Major liver resection
o Colon resection
o Rectal resection
• Age> 18 years
• The operations must have been carried out between 1.1.2017 and 30.9.2020.
• The operations must have been carried out electively.

Exclusion Criteria

Age under 18, or an operation that was not elective or does not count among the operations we include.

• Total (pre- and postoperative) length of stay in hospital during the primary stay<br>• Total frequency of postoperative complications and the individual degrees of severity (I-V) according to the Clavien-Dindo classification<br>• Frequency of complication-related readmissions within 30 days of primary discharge<br>• Length of stay on an intensive and intermediate care ward during the primary stay<br>• Cumulative postoperative and total hospital stay during the primary stay as well as a further hospital stay resulting from a complication-related readmission<br>• Goal of discharge (home, follow-up treatment / rehabilitation, care facility, other hospital, leaving the hospital against medical advice)
