- Diagnosed with stroke according to the definition of the WHO
- Time since stroke between 2 weeks and 6 months
- Independent living
- Minimal Functional Ambulation Category (FAC) score of 3
- Experiencing constrains with walking
- Age from 18 to 80 years
- Insufficient cognitive skills or understanding of the Dutch langue to reliably answer simple questions, based on the clinical impression of the researcher
- Severe visual deficits
- Severe forms of ataxia
- Orthopedic disorders and other co-morbidities that may limit walking ability
- Poorly controlled epilepsy

Name Time Method <p>The primary outcome measure is participation assessed with the Utrecht Scale<br /><br>for Evaluation of Rehabilitation Participation (USER-P). </p><br>
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method <p>The following secundary outcome measures are assessed:<br /><br><br /><br>- Subjective physical functioning with the Stroke Impact Scale-16 (SIS-16)<br /><br>- Activity level measured with an accelerometer<br /><br>- Functional gait ability with the Timed-Up & Go Test (TUG), Mini Balance<br /><br>Evaluation Systems Test (Mini-BESTest) and the 6 minutes walking test.<br /><br>- Fatigue with the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS)<br /><br>- Anxiety and depression with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)<br /><br>- Falls efficacy with the Falls Efficacy Scale International (FES-I)<br /><br>- Quality of life with the Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale (SS-QOL)<br /><br>- Intensity of the training sessions with a pedometer<br /><br>- Perceived exertion at the end of the training sessions with the Borg RPE<br /><br>Scale.</p><br>
