Schizophrenia remains one of the major psychiatric disorderswith huge social and economic costs for the individual and community. Lack ofsocial functioning and inadequate life skills have impact on everyday life ofpeople with this diagnosis. Studies showed that deficits in social functioningare one of the main drivers of the global burden of the disorder. According tothe report given by WHO at the year 2022 approximately 24 million people wereaffected by schizophrenia worldwide. Is it well recognized that deficits insocial functioning expressed through poor social interactions and difficultiesin building and maintaining familial or friendly relationships are a corefeature of schizophrenia. Therefore studies to be done to determine the lifeskills profile and social functioning of this group so that newer interventioncan be added to improve the quality of life of these patients. The aim of thestudy is to determine the life skills profile and social functioning among thepatients with schizophrenia visiting tertiary mental healthcare institution,Assam. Methodology of present study- the research approach will be quantitativein nature, design will be descriptive design, and setting of the study will betertiary mental healthcare institute, Assam. Study sample includes 103 patientswith schizophrenia visiting tertiary mental healthcare institution who will beselected by using convenient sampling. Data will be collected by selfstructured Socio- demographic proforma, LIFE SKILLS PROFILE -20 and SOCIALFUNCTIONING SCALE after translating to local language. After collecting data it will be analyzed bydescriptive and inferential statistics.

- The patients diagnosed with schizophrenia by treating team as per ICD- 10 criteria between the age group of 18-60 years.
- The patients who can give consent for the study.
- The patients diagnosed with schizophrenia co morbid with other mental illness.
- The patients who are unable to give consent for the study.
