  • •Coronary artery or valve transplant surgery

Exclusion Criteria

  • •tracheal or oesophageal stricture
  • •tracheo\-oesophageal fistula
  • •history of oesophageal surgery
  • •oesophageal varix
  • •oesophageal trauma
  • •oesophageal diverticulum
  • •Barrett’s oesophagus
  • •hiatus hernia
  • •large descending aortic aneurysm or vocal cord paralysis
