Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
The primary outcome parameters are maximum isometric hip strength, hip range of motion, spatio-temporal gait parameters and length of center of pressure as a measure of balance. These parameters are compared between the operated and the non-operated side.

Maximum isometric strength is tested in hip extension, flexion, abduction and adduction. Range of motion of the hip joint is measured in an active movement in hip extension, hip flexion and hip abduction. For the gait analysis spatio-temporal gait parameters as step length, step time, single-leg stance etc are analyzed. Balance is measured in the single-leg stance on a force plate.
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Another criterium is the comparison of the parameters of the total hip replacement patients with a healthy, age-matched control group
