Inclusion criteria for subjects
i)ASA class I-III (American Society Of Anesthesiologists Grading)
ii)Patients able to give written informed consent
iii)Patients requiring operative repair of fractured neck of femur

Exclusion criteria
i)History of allergy to any of the medications used in the study
ii)Patients with a history of dementia or difficulty in providing informed consent
iii)Patients with a history of significant neurological impairment of one or both of the lower limbs
iv)Patients with a pathological fracture of the neck of femur
v) Patients suffering from severe hypotension such as cardiogenic or hypovolaemic shock or with a serious cardiac arrhythmia

Name Time Method Main Objective: Comparison of postoperative pain scores after one of two nerve blocks using one of two doses of the local anaesthetic following operative repair of fractured neck of femur.<br>;Secondary Objective: Secondary end points<br><br>(i)Incidence of motor blockade<br>(ii)Postoperative analgesia requirements and time to first request of postoperative analgesia<br>(iii)Ability to mobilise on the first postoperative day<br>(iv)Incidence of any adverse events<br>;Primary end point(s): Comparison of postoperative pain scores after one of two nerve blocks using one of two doses of the local anaesthetic following operative repair of fractured neck of femur.
