1) Patients ASA (American society of anesthesiologists) 1-3 physical status
2) Age 18-75yrs of either sex
3) Patient scheduled for elective & emergency surgical procedure under general
anaesthesia
1) Hypersensitivity to dexmedetomidine
2)Advanced heart blocked (grade 2 or 3)
3)Uncontrolled hypotension
4) Pregnancy
5) Severe pulmonary, hepatic, cardiac or renal diseases.
6)BMI > 40 kg/m2
7) Mouth opening less than 1.5 fingers
8) Baseline HR < 60 beats/minute and patient on beta blockers
9)intubation lasting longer than 15 seconds Multiple intubation attempts (2 or more)
