Patients who required surgical repair for acute Achilles tendon rupture
(1) under 18 or over 65 years of age, (2) history of previous surgery at the Achilles tendon, (3) coexisting chronic Achilles tendinopathies (i.e. spontaneous rupture, previous quinolone therapy, steroid use, renal transplantation, diabetes, peripheral vascular, alcoholic and diabetic polyneuropathy),(4) bilateral Achilles tendon rupture, or other notable injuries around the ankle joint combined with tendon rupture, (5) receiving worker’s compensation, (6) underlying cognitive impairment that unable to following postoperative rehabilitation instructions or completing patient-reported outcome scores.
