Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • In order to be included in the study, each subject must: \- be between 12\-18 years old \- receive and sign a written consent form and subject information before participation \- wear a fixed conventional MBA (metal bracket appliance) in the upper and lower jaw \- have teeth 16\-26 and 36\-46 and these should be completely broken through \- after the levelling phase well aligned dental arches without narrow spaces, rotations and gaps \- have inserted at least OK/UK rectangular wires \- have rubber ligatures (so\-called Alastics) \- have a good general state of health \- agree not to participate in any other clinical study for the duration of this study \- agree not to have additional professional tooth cleaning performed externally 4 weeks before the start of the study and during the duration of the study \- maintain his previous manual or electrical brushing habits \- agree to return for the planned clinical visits and to follow the study procedure and study requirements.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Subjects will be excluded from participation in the study if: severe periodontal diseases characterized by purulent exudates, tooth mobility, and/or gingival retraction (recession), there is strong gingival swelling or a strongly irritated gingiva prone to bleeding \- increased caries activity has been diagnosed by the present OPTG (orthophantomogram) \- teeth are not well aligned \- esthetic/tooth\-coloured brackets or self\-ligating brackets are used \- an antibiotic was taken two weeks before the start of the study \- the patient is a smoker \- syndromes and general diseases or other anomalies are known \- other objections to study participation exist in the opinion of the treating dentist.
