A known case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, who is on treatment with OHAâ??s or insulin since the past five years, or who has been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus based on criteria given by the American Diabetes Association posted for elective surgery.
1. Systemic illnesses that also affect the autonomic nervous system including thyroid issues, cardiac, respiratory issues, renal or hepatic impairment, and malignancy.
2. Patient is on drugs that affect autonomic function, such as B-blockers, sympathomimetics, vasodilators, diuretics, anti-arrhythmics, etc,
3. Patients with underlying cardiac illnesses such as CAD, IHD, RHD, CHF, etc must be excluded as well.
