简要总结
Title
Effect of Rounded Shoulder Posture Correction exerciseson Chest Expansion, Pulmonary functions and Self-Esteem among computer users.
Introduction
Rounded Shoulder Posture (RSP) is a common posturaldeviation characterized by forward positioning of the shoulders, often due toprolonged sitting, poor ergonomics, or muscular imbalances. This posture cannegatively affect musculoskeletal alignment, respiratory mechanics, andpsychosocial well-being. It may restrict chest expansion, impair lung function, and lower self-esteem due to altered body image. Addressing RSP throughcorrective exercises and postural training may lead to improvements not only inphysical health but also in mental well-being.
Objectives:
- To evaluate the effect of posture correction on pulmonary function in individuals with RSP.
- To assess changes in chest expansion following postural correction.
- To determine the impact of shoulder posture correction on self-esteem.
Methodology:
This experimental study included individualsdiagnosed with rounded shoulder posture. Participants were selected based onspecific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The intervention group receivedposture correction exercises over a fixed duration. Outcome measures such aspulmonary function (via spirometry), chest expansion (using inch tape), andself-esteem (through a standardized questionnaire) were recorded pre- andpost-intervention. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare changes withinand between groups.
Significance ofthe Study:
This study aims to highlight the broader effects ofposture correction, extending beyond musculoskeletal benefits to includerespiratory and psychological health. By improving awareness and interventionstrategies for RSP, physiotherapists can adopt a more holistic approach topatient care. The findings may contribute to developing effective posturalrehabilitation protocols to enhance both physical function and self-esteem inaffected individuals.
