简要总结

It’s a Randomized Parallelgroup trial study conducted in India to assess the effectivenessof counseling on distress tolerance, Interpersonal relation and Mindfulnessamong nursing students. This study was conducted in five nursing colleges ofIndore city of the state of Madhya Pradesh. A quantitative research Approachwas adopted in the study. Multi-Stage Random Sampling method was adopted inthis study.  Sample allocation was doneusing K10 tool. Students from three nursing colleges were assigned to form the experimental group and students from the remainingtwo nursing colleges formed the control group. On the basis of Power analysissample size was calculated. The instruments used in this study were Sociodemographic data, Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), DistressTolerance scale, Interpersonal Competency Questionnaire, Rathus AssertivenessScale and Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale. In the experimental group aPretest was conducted at the initial phase and then sessions (intervention)were conducted for 6 weeks. Post test assessment was done using the same toolsat the end of 6 weeks of intervention. For control group no intervention wasinitiated. Only a pretest at initial phase and post test after 6 weeks usingthe same set of questionnaires was conducted. Follow up was conducted after 1year of pretest. Counseling, through eclectic approach was incorporated byskill training in groups. Analysis done at 6 weeks of intervention showed that thereis a high prevalence of distress among nursing students. If the problem isaddressed at the initial stage itself and with proper training imparted tonursing students to deal or cope with the problem, they can, not only managestress better but can utilize these skills, lifelong.

 Hypotheses:

H0: There will be no significantdifference in the level of distress before and after intervention inexperimental group at the level of p<0.05.

H0: There will be no significantdifference in distress tolerance before and after intervention in experimentalgroup at the level of p<0.05.

H0: There will be nosignificant difference in Interpersonal competency before and afterintervention in experimental group at the level of p<0.05.

H0: There will be nosignificant difference in level of assertiveness before and after interventionin experimental group at the level of p<0.05.

H0: There will be no significantdifference in core mindfulness attention awareness score before and afterintervention in experimental group at the level of p<0.05.

H0: There will be no significantdifference in level of distress, distress tolerance level, Interpersonalcompetency, assertiveness and core mindfulness attention awareness score betweenthe experimental group and control group before intervention at the level of p <0.05.

Theprimary outcome measures are Distress level score, distress tolerance score,Interpersonal Competency score, Assertiveness score and Mindfulness AttentionAwareness score before intervention, after intervention of 6 weeks and at theend of 1 year from preintervention.

A controlled study examining CBT for bereaved children. The death of a loved one in childhood and adolescence is a risk factor for distress and dysfunction. This event has been associated with increased emotional problems including elevated depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress, as well as somatic complaints and behavioural problems (Dowdney, 2008Kaplow, Layne, & Pynoos, 2012). An estimated 5% to 10% of children, experience clinically significant psychiatric problems following loss, including major depression, posttraumatic stress-disorder (PTSD), and Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) (Melhem, Moritz, Walker, Shear, & Brent, 2007Melhem, Porta, Shamseddeen, Walker, & Brent, 2011).PGD encompasses several symptoms including separation distress, preoccupation with thoughts about the lost person, a sense of purposelessness about the future, numbness, bitterness, difficulties accepting the loss and difficulty moving on with life without the lost person (Prigerson et al., 2009Shear et al., 2011). Although PGD has mostly been studied among adults, a growing body of empirical studies has shown that children and adolescents can develop PGD symptoms, that can be reliably assessed, are distinct from normal grief, depression and anxiety, including PTSD, and are predictive of significant concomitant internalizing and externalizing problems (Brown & Goodman, 2005Dillen, Fontaine, & Verhofstadt-Denève, 2008Spuij, Prinzie et al., 2012Spuij, Reitz et al., 2012). Evidence that, in a small percentage of people, acute grief reactions turn into chronic debilitating distress, blocking reestablishment of normal routines, will likely lead to the inclusion of two bereavement-related disorders in the DSM-5, namely Adjustment Disorder Related to Bereavement, located in its main text, and Persistent Complex Bereavement-Related Disorder, located in its appendix (APA, 2000APA, 2012for discussions see Boelen & Prigerson, 2012Kaplow et al., 2012Wakefield, 2012).
