Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • female patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status 1\-2, who were aged 18\-60 years, and were scheduled to undergo general anesthesia and postoperative intravenous patient controlled analgesia for breast cancer surgery

Exclusion Criteria

  • psychiatric disease
  • chronic pain
  • history of preoperative analgesics
  • contraindication of fentanyl or midazolam
  • when the PCA cannot be applied to patients
