Brief Summary

In this dissertation, adult neurosurgical patients undergoing elective surgeries will be observed to determine the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC) in the first seven days of surgery. Clinical examination ,monitoring, chest X ray, ultrasound of thorax will be utilised to detect the occurrence of PPCs. the perioperative factors which lead to PPCs will be identified. Lung ultrasound will be performed to determine lung ultrasound aeration score (LUAS) preoperatively and compared with post operative LUAS to determine its effect on development of PPCs and also to study the effect of ventilator strategies on change in LUAS.
