简要总结

Periodontal disease and dental caries are the two most prevalent oral illnesses linked to plaque Today, brushing is still the most popular self performed mechanical technique for removing and controlling plaque biofilm at home The best way to remove interdental plaque is with interdental aids The choice of interdental aids is influenced by the types of embrasures the abilities of medical specialists and the desire to employ them The gold standard for eliminating interdental plaque is dental floss The American Dental Association states that up to 80 percent of intedental plaque can be eliminated with dental floss But about 10 percent to 30 percent of adults routinely floss, according to research. Numerous designs of interdental devices are on the market to get around this limitation The water flosser is a reasonably simple interdental tool that has recently been developed for everyday usage at home Since there are limited number of studies on the comparative effectiveness of water flosser and dental floss in different populations this study aims to  assess the efficacy of water flosser when compared to regular floss in improving gingival health Before the commencement of the study informed consent will be obtained from all the participants The study had previously been approved by the institutional ethics committee Participants confidentiality will be maintained throughout the study and they were informed about the investigation in advance For each participant the split mouth technique is used which divides the mouth into left and right mandibular halves Group 1 will be assigned to dental floss which will be used on left mandibular quadrant. Group 2 will be assigned to water flosser which will be used on right mandibular quadrant This standardized assignment of groups willl be done to reduce confusion and enhance the clarity of participants during self administration The study outcome will be assessed using the plaque and gingival index by comparing the baseline scores to the sores obtained after 24 hours 48 hours and 72 hours respectively
