1.All hemodynamically stable patients, who get admitted under the Division of Trauma Surgery and Critical Care in JPNApex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi.
2.Patients of age - 16 years to 65 years
3.Penetrating injury to anterior abdominal wall
Anterior abdominal wall is defined as the region between bilateral mid axillary lines, upper limit is taken as 4th intercostal space at level of nipple, lower limit is defined as bilateral inguinal ligaments.
4.Presentation within 24 hours of injury
1.Hemodynamically unstable patients
a.Pulse > 120/min
b.BP < 90/60 mmHg
2.Features of peritonitis
3.Evisceration of bowel and/or omentum
4.Pregnant or lactating women
5.Concomitant Head injury
6.Gunshot wounds
7.Posterior abdominal penetrating injuries
8.Patients requiring surgery for any other concomitant injury
9.Patients with coagulation disorders, autoimmune disorders
10.Patients on corticosteroids, insulin, anticoagulants
11.Patients who will not consent
