Fever and urinary symptoms (dysuria, urinary frequency, urinary urgency) with presence of >=10 WBC in urine
Urine/ Blood C/S showing ESBL + organism
Patient from South India
Afebrile with absence of urinary symptoms for 24 hours prior to randomization
Failure of patient to give consent
Presence of fever or shock or persistent urinary symptoms at Day 7
Presence of renal abscess
Presence of hydronephrosis or hydroureteronephrosis requiring intervention in the first 7 days.
Non ESBL â??producing organism
Pregnancy
Patient on immunosuppression
Patient with chronic kidney disease on renal replacement therapy
