The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of gait exercise using the Welwalk WW-1000 on subacute stroke patients. Gait exercise using the Welwalk WW-1000 was as efficient as gait exercise with a lower limb orthosis in improving gait independence. The results of sub-analysis, excluding the 1 point of FIM gait score at the beginning of the study, showed that the efficiency of improvement in gait independence was similar in both groups, but the gait independence at discharge was significantly higher
