- Brief Summary
Chronic neck pain is a prevalent musculoskeletal issue among working women, often leading to significant disruptions in mental health, sleep quality, and overall wellbeing. This cross-sectional study aims to examine the prevalence and associations between neck muscle activity—measured through electromyography (EMG)—and psychological and physiological outcomes such as anxiety, sleep quality, and general wellbeing in this population. Working women aged 25–55 years with chronic neck pain (lasting more than three months) will be recruited. EMG assessments will be used to quantify neck muscle activity during rest and functional tasks. Standardized questionnaires including the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), DASS 21, Perceived Stress Test and WHO-5 Wellbeing Index will be administered to evaluate sleep quality, anxiety, stress and wellbeing respectively. The objective is to explore whether abnormal neck muscle EMG activity is significantly associated with increased anxiety, poor sleep, and reduced wellbeing. By identifying these relationships, the study aims to inform integrative clinical strategies that address both physical and psychological dimensions of chronic neck pain in working women. Findings from this research could contribute to targeted interventions that reduce work-related disability and improve the quality of life for affected individuals.
