简要总结
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment for individuals with symptoms of different psychiatric diagnoses (e.g., Cristea et al., 2017), particular those at risks for suicide or parasuicidal behavior (e.g., DeCou et al., 2019; Stanley et al., 2007) and those reporting emotion dysregulation (e.g., Kells et al., 2020). A transdiagnostic treatment that meets the needs of clinical populations at various risk levels can potentially mitigate the associated high cost to the health system as a whole.
Considering the various components of DBT, establishment of a standard DBT program can be a multi-phasic project. Stand-alone DBT skills training groups have been found effective in reducing symptoms of mental health disorders (Valentine et al., 2014) and strengthening emotion regulation (Kells et al., 2020). Therefore, this study serves as a pilot and focuses on the effectiveness of skills training groups. Preliminary data collected will not only inform the projects subsequent phase(s) of expansion into a standard DBT program but also shed light on the implementation of DBT in an outpatient community setting in Hong Kong.
