简要总结

This is an observational study to assess the cognitive dysfunctions in souses of patients with alcohol dependence syndrome. Data will be collected from the spouses of the patients with alcohol dependence syndrome admitted in the deaddiction centre and the psychiatry ward of Father Muller medical college hospital.

Assessment of alcohol dependence will be done as per ICD-10 criteria. Socio-economic status will be assessed as per Kuppuswamy Scale

Samples will be evaluated using following scales to estimate the cognitive functions:-

a) Standardized Mini Mental State Examination (SMMSE)

b) Trail Making Test B

c) Digit Symbol Substitution Test

入选标准

•Inclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group : 1.Spouses of patents with alcohol dependence syndrome as per ICD-10 criteria.
•2.Spouses of age between 18-60 years.
•3.Persons who give consent for the study.

排除标准

•Exclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group : 1.Persons with any chronic lifestyle modifying illness like Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension.
•2.Persons with any history of substance abuse.
•3.Persons with any psychiatric disorders.
•5.Persons suffering from neurodegenerative diseases and with family history of neurodegenerative diseases in first degree relatives.
