All patients with renal dysfunction due to any etiology who have been prescribed heparin-free hemodialysis from a nephrologist will be considered eligible for this study if they are above 18 years of age and satisfy ANY of the following criteria
1)Patients suffering from thrombocytopenia (Platelet < 50,000/cumm).
2)Patients with coagulopathy with either INR > 2 or aPTT > 40 seconds.
3)Patients with evidence of acute or active bleeding from any site.
4)Patients suffering from any bleeding diathesis.
5)Patients receiving any form of systemic anticoagulation in therapeutic doses.
Patients who meet ANY of the following criteria will be excluded:
1)Patients unable to attain and tolerate hemodialysis at blood flow >= 250ml/min.
2)Patient planned to receive blood products during hemodialysis.
3)Patients suffering from a known thrombophilic state.
4)Patient unwilling to give written informed consent to participate in the study.
