Inclusion Criteria

The first-ever unilateral stroke diagnosed by imaging

The course of the disease ranged from 2 weeks to 6 months.

UL dysfunction as indicated by the Fugl-Meyer motor function score

Aged 40â??70 years, regardless of sex.

No severe cognitive or communication impairment as

indicated by the Mini-mental state examination (MMSE) >= 24 points.

Exclusion Criteria

Severe aphasia (score of 2 points in the national institute of health stroke score (NIHSS) language item assessment),

Moderate to severe cognitive impairment (score of 15 points in a mini-mental state examination assessment),

Shoulder subluxation or shoulder pain >4 points in the numerical visual scale of pain,

Uncontrolled epilepsy or epilepsy episodes in the last 3 months, having any other underlying neurological disease, severe aphasia  or cognitive impairment;

Having any contraindications to TMS and/or MRI, such as having cardiac pacemaker, metal foreign bodies , any cranial metallic implants, a history of neurosurgery, other electronic devices implanted in the body, as according to the safety guidelines, they are contraindications for TMS, such as or other electronic devices implanted in the body, etc.

Application of drugs that change the excitability of the cerebral cortex.
