Brief Summary

Unanticipated difficult airway still remains a challenge to anaesthetist , my aim of the study is to compare ultrasound guided airway parameters such as preepiglottic space thickness , skin to epiglottis distance and comparing this with the routine airway assessment with clinical parameters such as thyromental distance , modified mallampati score and  ratio of height to thyromental distance in predicting difficult laryngoscopy in patients undergoing elective surgeries under general anaesthesia with endotracheal intubation and to predict a cutoff value of skin to epiglottis thickness in our patient population.

Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
To compare the prediction of difficult airway by use of ultrasound guided measurements versus routine assessment of clinical airway parameters likeOutcome will be assessed at the time of baseline clinical assessment of airway and immediately at the time of intubation.
1.Thyro mental distanceOutcome will be assessed at the time of baseline clinical assessment of airway and immediately at the time of intubation.
2.Modified Mallampati scoreOutcome will be assessed at the time of baseline clinical assessment of airway and immediately at the time of intubation.
3.Ratio of height to thyromental distance.Outcome will be assessed at the time of baseline clinical assessment of airway and immediately at the time of intubation.
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
To find the correlation between ratio oh height to thyromental distance and to predict a cut off value of skin to epiglottis thickness in our patient population.Outcome will be assessed at the time of baseline clinical assessment of airway and immediately at the time of intubation
