简要总结

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted, and abnormally dilated superficial veins, most commonly found in the legs.1

Varicose veins (VV) are a widespread concern, particularly among older adults, and can lead to physical disfigurement, functional limitations, and a reduced overall quality of life

According to a study Globally, varicose veins affect about 10-20% of people , but in India, the prevalence is considerably lower at approximately 5%.

Homoeopathy takes a holistic approach to healing, focusing not only on the disease but the individual as a whole. This system of medicine aims to go beyond merely suppressing symptoms—it strives to enhance overall well-being and improve quality of life on a deeper level.

When it comes to managing varicose veins, homoeopathic remedies offer a gentle and effective option. These medicines work to ease venous congestion and assist in controlling the associated symptoms, such as leg pain, a sensation of heaviness, cramps, itching, and swelling.

Aesculus hippocastanum ( Horse chestnut seed extract) has shown results in reducing symptoms of venous insufficiency – particularly leg pain, edema, and heaviness – through its venotonic and anti-inflammatory effects. The active compound, aescin, strengthens vein wall, improves venous tone.

However, despite encouraging preliminary evidence, the use of Aesculus hippocastanum remains under- researched in many regions, and standardized clinical trials are limited. There is a need to explore its efficacy, safety, and potential role as an adjunct or alternative therapy in the management of varicose veins.

Hence, this study is intend to assess and compare the effectiveness of constitutional homoeopathic medicine with Aesculus hippocastanum in the management of varicose vein. The analysis of the efficacy will be done using the revised venous clinical severity scoring scale (RVCSS).
