Identifying pre-hospitalisation warning signs in migrant children less than 12 years old living along on the Thailand-Myanmar border
- Conditions
- Migrant parent/caregiver and children less than 12 years old attending the outpatient clinic or admitted to the inpatient ward who meet the eligibility criteria will be screened for eligibility for the study.Hospitalisation risk, paediatrics, tachycardia, outpatient triage
- Registration Number
- TCTR20230509001
- Lead Sponsor
- niversity of Oxford
- Brief Summary
The findings of this study do not support the use of orthostatic heart rate as a tool to detect children at risk for hospitalization. Longer duration of illness may be a risk factor for hospitalisation. In this study the only social indicator associated with IPD admission was a higher maternal education level.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Determine whether orthostatic tachycardia can be used as a physiologic biomarker to identify unwell children less than 12 years old at risk for hospitalisation 30 - 60 Minutes Compare the proportion of participants with an orthostatic elevation in heart rate
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Determine the pre-hospitalisation biophysiological markers associated with hospitalisation in unwell children less than 12 years old 30 - 60 Minutes Compare the proportion of participants with abnormal vital signs, physical examination and laboratory test results from clinical samples ,Determine the social markers associated with hospitalisation in unwell children less than 12 years old 30 - 60 Minutes Compare the presence of social indicators
