Inclusion Criteria

120 adult patients between the age group of 20-65yrs of physical status American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status I and II who undergo infra umbilical surgeries e.g.: Inguinal hernia repair surgeries, varicose vein surgeries, lower limb surgeries, etc.

Exclusion Criteria

Uncooperative patients, patients with uncontrolled hypertension, and diabetes, patients with allergy to the study drugs, patients on antiarrhythmics, beta-blockers, anticoagulants, ACE inhibitors, pregnant women, body weight >120kg, Heart Rate < 60 beats per minute and patients having a condition which is a contraindication to spinal anaesthesia such as patient refusal, infection at the site of injection, coagulopathy, increased intracranial pressure.

To evaluate the pain after two different doses of dexmedetomidine 3µg and 5µg, as an additive to hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% via intrathecal route (Spinal).Timepoint: Baseline, 1st hour,2nd hour,4th hour and 6th hour.
