Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod

Main outcome measures are changes in oxygenated hemoglobine concentrations

(O2Hb), deoxygenated hemoglobine concentrations (HHb), total hemoglobine (THb)

and tissue saturation index (TSI). Those parameters will be determined in two

protocols, with protocol 1 simulating prolonged sitting and protocol 2

simulating descending stairs. Differences in changes between healthy subjects

and patients with PFP will be investigated.

Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod

Anterior Knee Pain Scale * Dutch Version (AKPS-DV), 13 item questionnaire

Tegner Score, 10 item level of physical activity

blood pressure

prepatellair skinfold thickness measured with Harpenden skinfold caliper

patella width measured with caliper

Decline step-down test (DSDT) measuring pain-free flexion angle

Lower limb range of motion (LLROM) measuring soft tissue flexibility of the

kinetic chain

Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) measuring pain intensity while performing protocol

1 and 2
