Inclusion Criteria

INCLUSION CRITERIA

1.Age >60years

2.Major depressive disorder according to DSM-5(single or recurrent episodes)

3.Willing to give Consent

4.Serum vitamin B12 level â??187-350pg/ml

5.Hindi Mental Status Examination > 24

Exclusion Criteria

1. Not willing to give consent

2. Patient taking MAO inhibitors.

3. History of allergy to escitalopram

4. History of active suicidal ideation and psychotic symptoms

5. History of substance use except tobacco

6.History of stroke or neurodegenerative disorders.

7. Uncooperative for assessment

8. Patients taking Antidepressant in last 15 days at point of entry in study.
