Inclusion Criteria

�qSOFA score greater than, equal to 2

�Patients suffering from acute or acute on chronic illness.

Exclusion Criteria

1.Hematological diseases.

2.Proven or suspected hepatitis and an associated pathology known to affect ferritin levels.

3.Congenital heart disease.

4.Presence of confirmed or suspected endocrine disease involving the somatotropic and corticotropic axes.

5.Diagnosis of congenital or acquired immunosuppression,

6.Confirmed or suspected congenital glucose metabolism alterations, severe liver impairment.

7.Hematological diseases, including iron deficiency anemia due to long-term insufficient iron intake.

8.Malignancy and pregnancy

9.Evidence of infection due to falciparum malaria.

10.Family history or previous diagnosis of hemophagocytic syndrome; recipient of frequent blood transfusion.
