- To estimate the magnitude of sarcopenia among elderly subjects attending a tertiary care center of North India based on Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019 criteria for the diagnosis of Sarcopenia.
Study Overview
Brief Summary
Sarcopenia is an underdiagnosed disease entity adding to morbidity and mortality among elderly population. It is characterized by loss of muscle strength & muscle mass. It adversely affects the quality of life of the subject also. The entity is under recognized in day to day practice. There are ways to address this problem and hence improve the outcome also. The current study will use the diagnostic criteria given by the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 for the diagnosis of sarcopenia.

- 60.00 Year(s) to 90.00 Year(s) (—)
- Sex

Inclusion Criteria
- •Age more than 60 years both Male and Female Normal healthy subjects and subjects suffering from any chronic stable co-morbid condition, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus HbA1c less than10%, chronic kidney disease, Chronic Liver Disease etc) Functional decline or limitation Unintentional weight loss Depressive mood Cognitive impairment Repeated falls Malnutrition and having either SARCF score equal to or greater than 4 or SARCCalF equal to or greater than11.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Bed-ridden subjects due to anticipated problems in workup Pregnant and lactating females Acutely ill subjects Patients admitted to ICU Subjects with contraindication for MRI Malignancy.

To estimate the magnitude of sarcopenia among elderly subjects attending a tertiary care center of North India based on Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019 criteria for the diagnosis of Sarcopenia.
