All patients undergoing urologic surgeries involving urethral manipulation (endourological procedures/urethral catheterization) with no significant ( >100000 cfu) growth on urine culture.
Patients unwilling to give consent for inclusion in the study. Age < 12 or >75 years.
Expected indwelling catheter duration of more than 1 week. Emergency procedures. Pre-existing infection focus at the time of surgery. Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, immune-suppression or any other non-urological disease pre-disposing to higher risk for infections. Urethral reconstructive surgeries or genital/perineal/rectal approach to surgery
