Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Patient presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding with portal hypertension diagnosed by clinical, biochemical, radiological investigation and presence of esophageal varices confirmed on endoscopy.
- •-First episode of variceal bleed.
- •-Age 13 years and above.
- •-Patient undergoing endoscopic therapy.
Exclusion Criteria
- •-Concomitant gastric varices or any other additional upper gastrointestinal source of bleed
- •-Hepatocellular carcinoma / any other malignancy
- •-Debilitating illness like cerebro vascular accident, severe ischemic heart disease
- •-Use of vasoactive medicines & endoscopic therapy before being referred to our hospital
