- •- patients with hypertension and/or ischemic heart disease to whom treatment with an oral beta-blocker is suggested

- •- treatment with a beta-blocking agent within 3 months
- •- being allergic to any of the components of the drugs
- •- II-III degree AV-block
- •- sick sinus syndrome
- •- severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma or bronchospasm
- •- severe peripheral arterial disease
- •- uncompensated heart failure
- •- untreated pheochromocytoma
- •- treatment with a MAO-inhibitor
- •- pregnancy or lactation
- •- severe liver damage or liver failure
- •- psoriasis
- •- severe hypertension (>180/110 mmHg)
- •- atrial fibrillation
- •- lack of informed consent
- •- poor compliance
