Brief Summary

There is a significant increase in the number oftranssexuals/ transgenders in Indian context from the past one decade. With theincrease in public awareness and growing legal acceptance of various problemsof this population, it becomes necessary to implement standardised method ofclinical evaluation.

Though there are a few voice centres in Indiapracticing voice evaluation and therapy in transsexual, no attempts have beenreported to develop a self-perceptual questionnaire on voice of transsexuals. Inthis context, in order to provide appropriate counselling and meaningfulintervention, it becomes a necessity to adapt and validate the TranssexualVoice Questionnaire to Malayalam.
