Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •\- Age \> 18 years
- •\- Acceptable proficiency of the Dutch language
- •\- 37 patients
- •\- ASA 2\-4 patients, in order to limit the influence of co\-morbidities on the mitochondrial function.
- •\- Cardiac surgery requiring CPB
Exclusion Criteria
- •\- Presence of mitochondrial disease
- •\- Pregnancy/ lactation
- •\- emergency surgery,
- •\- patients with intracardiac shunts
