Subcutaneous insulin therapy of hyperglycemia after initiation of oral intake in the ICHyperglycemia is very common in hospitalized, critically ill patients and is associated with higher mortality and morbidity. Careful monitoring and therapy of hyperglycemia have become standard in the ICU.
