简要总结
The aim of the program to serve as a prototype for future preventive program for AD in the region. The program will recruit elderly participants. Cognitive assessment and lifestyle questionnaire will be performed with each participant to investigator their risk factor associate with AD.
The program will offer medical referral and/or educational program(s) (e.g. tailor-made multidomain preventive measures plan, education talks) for participants who might have possible early AD or with high risk of AD
详细描述
Epidemiological studies over the past few decades demonstrate that AD is associated with multiple modifiable risk factors, including cardiovascular risk factors, level of physical and cognitively stimulating or social activities, and dietary pattern. Recent large scale randomized controlled clinical trials show that single- or multi-domain lifestyle intervention and control in cardiovascular risk factors can slow down cognitive decline among subjects with early AD who have suboptimal control in AD modifiable risk factors.
This study aims to identify subjects with possible early AD, to investigate the control in AD modifiable risk factors among subjects with early AD, and to implement tailor-made preventive measures among early AD subjects with suboptimal control in risk factors.
Through the BEAT AD program, knowledge on preventive measures of AD can be promoted around Hong Kong.
