Immediate completion total thyroidectomy after thyroid lobectomy in diffentiated thyroid cancer patients with American thyroid association intermediate-risk is not necessary because of good prognosis during long-term follow-up. Larger-scale randomized clinical trials are required to confirm our findings.

- •Patients who underwent total thyroidectomy, not adults, patients with poorly differentiated thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer or anaplastic thyroid cancer
