All the patients undergoing elective composite resection and reconstruction surgery for head and neck cancers (cancer of tongue, palate, buccal mucosa, mandible, maxilla, pharynx and larynx) aged 18-60 years with BMI 25-35 kg/m2, ASA status of 1 AND 2, normal liver and renal function tests and agreed to participate in the research.
The study excludes those patients who have failed to comprehend visual analogue scale , have history of local anaesthetic allergy, cardiovascular , respiratory,neurological or metabolic diseases,history of chronic analgesic use, serum creatinine more than 2mg/dl, patients on dialysis or in sepsis, patients with current opioid intake and pregnancy.
POSTINCLUSION EXCLUSION CRITERIA:
Patients who had Intraoperative complications (massive bleeding > 30% total blood volume) and those requiring postoperative mechanical ventilation.
