1. Age 40 years to 80 years
2. Clinically and radiologically diagnosed knee OA (American College of Rheumatology Diagnostic Criteria2) with Kellgren and Lawrence radiographic classification8 grade 2 or presence of 1-2 posterior or lateral osteophytes on a posteroanterior view (Early OA)
3. Not responding to conservative management (medications, physical therapy) for at least 6 months
1. Inflammatory causes of knee arthritis ( rheumatoid, gout )
2. Presence of loose bodies in knee joint, crystal arthropathies or tense joint effusion
3. History of a previous knee joint injection within 3 months or surgery in the past
4. Co-existence of a neuropathic component of pain ( PainDetect pain score of >12 )9
5. Thrombocytopenia (platelet count < 1 lakh/mm3), anemia (hemoglobin < 10 gm%), severe cardiovascular disease or receiving anticoagulant therapy
6. Systemic diseases-Hematologic/ bone malignancy, infection, immunosuppressive status
7. History of smoking
