Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\. Age 40 years to 80 years
- •2\. Clinically and radiologically diagnosed knee OA (American College of Rheumatology Diagnostic Criteria2\) with Kellgren and Lawrence radiographic classification8 grade 2 or presence of 1\-2 posterior or lateral osteophytes on a posteroanterior view (Early OA)
- •3\. Not responding to conservative management (medications, physical therapy) for at least 6 months
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\. Inflammatory causes of knee arthritis ( rheumatoid, gout )
- •2\. Presence of loose bodies in knee joint, crystal arthropathies or tense joint effusion
- •3\. History of a previous knee joint injection within 3 months or surgery in the past
- •4\. Co\-existence of a neuropathic component of pain ( PainDetect pain score of \>12 )9
- •5\. Thrombocytopenia (platelet count \< 1 lakh/mm3\), anemia (hemoglobin \< 10 gm%), severe cardiovascular disease or receiving anticoagulant therapy
- •6\. Systemic diseases\-Hematologic/ bone malignancy, infection, immunosuppressive status
- •7\. History of smoking
