Inclusion Criteria

Alcohol dependence according to ICD-10
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Expected inpatient treatment duration of 20 days
- Written informed consent to take part in the study

Exclusion Criteria

- Dependence on other substances than alcohol (except nicotine)
- Withdrawal treatment according to 5- or 10-days scheme not possible due to mental or somatic comorbidities
- Inability to take part in the study

Primary Outcome Measures

Sum score of AWS scale for the first 5 days.<br>The scale is used to assess vegetative and mental withdrawal symptoms which are rated 4 times a day by the clinic staff. Daily score: 0-116 points, 5-days-sum score: 0-580 points (theoretical limit)
