Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Age \>\=18 years
  • •\- able to understand study purpose and risks in German language
  • •\- for patients only: diagnosis of essential tremor made by a movement disorder specialist according to established criteria

Exclusion Criteria

  • •\- presence of other neurological or psychiatric conditions
  • •\- drug or alcohol misuse (exceprion: cigarette smoking)
  • •\- contraindications against MRI assessment (e.g. cardial pacemaker, joint replacements, tattoos etc.)
  • •\- marked claustrophobia
  • •\- contraindications against alcohol consumption
  • •\- relevant medical conditions such as severe heart disease or metabolic disorders
  • •\- pregnancy
  • •\- breast feeding period
  • •\- orthopedic disorders that would prevent participant from lying flat in the MRI scanner
