  • Singleton pregnancy
  • Cephalic presenting fetus
  • Parity less than 5

Exclusion Criteria

  • History of atonic postpartum haemorrhage
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Grand multiparity
  • Previous caesarean section
  • Multiple gestations
  • Placenta praevia
  • Use of anticoagulants or tocolytics
  • Chorioamnionitis
  • Any known uterine malformation
  • History of coagulopathy.
