Inclusion Criteria
1.All Paediatric patient (1month -16 years) requiring admission in Paediatric ward.
2.Indication for PVC for at least 48 hours.
3.Parents willing to participate in the study.
Exclusion Criteria
1.Skin injury at catheter insertion sites.
2.Catheter inserted in emergency.
3.Known allergy to the chlorhexidine Or Povidone iodine.
4.Difficult insertion of catheter as in obese patient or repeat attempts.
5.Patients critically ill not expecting to survive more than a week
6.Not willing for the study.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Primary outcome will be incidence of catheter tip colonisation on culture.Timepoint: 1.Day 1 of admission - Peripheral venous catheter to be inserted after cleaning by either 2â?? chlorhexidine alcohol or 10â?? povidone iodine alcohol <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>At end of 72 hrs -IV Catheter removed and catheter tip send for culture for colonisation
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Secondary outcome will be incidence of Catheter occlusion, accidental catheter removal, catheter related blood stream infection, incidence of side effects related to type of antiseptic use.Timepoint: Within 72 hours
