Patients between 18 to 60 years of age of either sex with clinical features of amavata mentioned in ayurvedic samhita i.e. Sandhishool, Sandhishotha, Sandhistabdhata, Sparshasahyatwa, Sandhi aushnya, Jwar and those who fulfill the - 2010: ACR and EULAR revised classification criteria for rheumatoid arthritis(18) are to be selected for the proposed study. Application of the newly revised criteria yields a score of 0-10. Those with the score > 6 fulfill the requirements for definite RA and a criterion for enrollment as a participant.
Chronicity of more than 5 years.
Having severe crippling deformity.
Patients having neoplasm of spine, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, traumatic arthritis, and pyogenic osteomyelitis.
Having cardiac disease, pulmonary tuberculosis and renal function impairment, diabetes mellitus and malignant hypertension.
Pregnant women and lactating mother.
Patients contraindicated for basti as mentioned in ayurvedic samhita.
