简要总结

Postoperative sore throat,cough and hoarseness of voice are common uncomfortable distressing sequelae following endotracheal intubation.Various strategies have been employed to attenuate the extubation response .In this study we want to compare the effectiveness of lubricating the endotracheal tube with betamethasone(0.05 %) with lignocaine jelly(2%) on post operative airway complications at 1,6,12 and 24 hrs ,the occurrence of extubation related adverse effects and on intraoperative hemodynamic parameters.

入选标准

•1.Patients of ASA grade I and II 2.Patients undergoing elective surgery requiring endotracheal intubation (Duration less than 3 hours).

排除标准

•1.Patients not willing to participate in the study 2.Surgeries of oral cavity and pharynx 3.Anticipated difficult airway 4.More than 2 attempts at intubation 5.Use of nasogastric or orogastric tube perioperatively 6.Patients with upper respiratory tract infection 7.Patients on steroids.

Cases with postoperative sore throat

时间窗: 1,6,12 and 24 hours after extubation

次要结局

Cases with postoperative cough and hoarseness of voice(1,6,12 and 24 hours after extubation)
Occurrence of laryngospasm,bronchospasm(during and after extubation)
Hemodynamic parameters HR,SBP,DBP,MAP(baseline,before intubation,after intubation every 5 min till 15 minutes,then every 15 min upto 120 minutes,at reversal of neuromuscular block,at the time of extubation,every 2 min till 8 minutes,then every 5 min upto 30 minutes)
